Amrita proudly celebrated World Environment Day 2025 on June 5th with a heartfelt initiative aimed at inspiring young minds to become caretakers of our planet. With the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution,” this year’s celebration focused on creating awareness about the harmful effects of plastic and the need for sustainable alternatives.
The program began with a thought-provoking talk, tailored especially for our young learners. Through simple words and vivid examples, children were made aware of how plastic affects animals, oceans, soil, and even the food we eat. The session encouraged eco-friendly habits such as carrying cloth bags, reusing items, and saying no to single-use plastic.
To translate learning into action, the students enthusiastically participated in a sapling planting activity on the school campus. With smiles on their faces and care in their hands, the children planted young trees - symbolizing hope, renewal, and responsibility toward Mother Earth.
The school grounds echoed with joy and purpose as children connected with nature through this hands - on experience. The sight of tiny hands nurturing saplings was a beautiful expression of love for the environment. The celebration concluded with a collective reflection on the message:
“Small hands can make a big difference.”
Amrita Vidyalayam remains committed to nurturing eco-conscious citizens who will grow up to protect and preserve the planet - not just on Environment Day, but every day.
