Reading Day was observed with great enthusiasm at Amrita Vidyalayam, Thalassery, on 19 June, commemorating the birth anniversary of P. N. Panicker, the father of the Library Movement in Kerala. The programme aimed to foster a love for reading and highlight the importance of books in shaping young minds.
The celebration was graced by renowned author Sri T. K. Damodaran as the chief guest. He addressed the students on the value of reading and encouraged them to develop reading habits that enrich knowledge, creativity, and character.
The programme began with prayers and a welcome address, followed by an introduction to the significance of Reading Day and the contributions of P. N. Panicker. Students actively participated in various activities such as reading sessions, book reviews, speeches, and literary presentations, showcasing their passion for books and literature.
The chief guest interacted with the students and shared inspiring experiences from his literary journey. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, leaving everyone motivated to embrace the message “Read and Grow.”
