On Sunday, 2 August 2026, Amrita Vidyalayam, Nigdi, proudly joined the nationwide movement “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – GEN-Z Against Addiction”, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing a healthy, responsible, and drug-free generation. 

The campaign, initiated in response to the appeal of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, aimed to create awareness among the youth about the devastating impact of substance abuse and inspire them to make healthy and positive choices. 

The programme was conducted through a live interaction from Amrita Vidyalayam Ashram, where students and teachers of Amrita Vidyalayam, Nigdi, joined the programme along with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Amma. Students from Classes VIII to XII, along with the teaching staff, participated with great enthusiasm and collectively took the Nasha Mukt Yuva Pledge. 

The pledge served as a powerful reminder that the responsibility of building a drug-free society rests with each one of us. Students were encouraged to say no to drugs, embrace a healthy lifestyle, and become positive influencers among their friends, families, and communities. 

The enthusiastic participation of the school community reflected the spirit of unity, awareness, and collective responsibility. The initiative not only sensitised students to the dangers of addiction but also empowered them to become ambassadors of positive change. 

Through this meaningful initiative, Amrita Vidyalayam, Nigdi, continues to uphold its commitment to holistic education and the development of socially responsible citizens, contributing towards the vision of a Nasha Mukt Yuva and a Viksit Bharat.
