As part of the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Amrita Vidyalayam, Pathanamthitta organized a Vimukthi Awareness Programme on 25 June 2026 at 10:30 a.m. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse, alcohol consumption, and other addictive substances.
The programme commenced with a prayer, followed by a welcome speech by Ms. Manju S., Vimukthi Club Convener. Vice Principal Ms. Sumangala Haridas presided over the function.
As a gesture of respect and gratitude, Vimukthi Club President Aarav R welcomed the Chief Guest, Ms. Karthika R., Women Civil Excise Officer, Excise Range Office, Pathanamthitta, by presenting her with a potted plant.
The Chief Guest, Ms. Karthika R., delivered an informative and inspiring session on the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of leading a healthy and responsible life. She highlighted the physical, mental, social, and legal consequences of drug addiction and encouraged students to stay away from harmful habits.
Ms. Karthika R. led the anti-drug pledge, and the students recited it in unison after her.
The session was conducted under the guidance of the Vimukthi Mission and provided valuable insights into the role of youth in building a drug-free society. Students actively participated in the programme and gained a better understanding of the importance of making positive life choices.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Kumari Nandhini Rajeev, Vimukthi Club Secretary, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, the school management, teachers, and students for making the programme a success.
The programme was a meaningful and successful initiative that helped spread the message of a healthy, safe, and drug-free future among the students.
