Amrita Vidyalayam, Vellimadukunnu, conducted its annual sports meet for students of grades 6 to 12 on the 23rd and 24th. The event began with an inaugural function on the 23rd, graced by the chief guest, Jereesh K. Ismayil.
The inauguration commenced with a grand welcome for the chief guest, accompanied by the school band and a march past. Students from all houses participated in the march past with great spirit and discipline. The programme started with a prayer, followed by a welcome speech by Shivapriya. The principal, Dhanya Ma’am, delivered the presidential address, after which the chief guest inaugurated the sports meet by hoisting the flag.
The chief guest then addressed the gathering with inspiring words about sportsmanship and perseverance. The sports captain, Athyuj, along with the house captains, led the oath-taking ceremony, pledging fair play and dedication. The head girl, Devika, delivered a speech highlighting the importance of sports in shaping character and teamwork. The inauguration concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by the head boy, Anantha Krishnan.
Following the official ceremony, various events and competitions took place over the two days. The students actively participated in track events such as the 100m, 200m, and 400m races, and the 4×100m relay. Field events included discus throw, shot put, javelin throw, and long jump. Team games like cricket, football, basketball, and kho-kho were conducted for both boys and girls.
All participants displayed great enthusiasm, energy, and sportsmanship throughout the meet. The combined efforts of the teachers, organizers, and students made the event a grand success, leaving everyone with cherished memories of teamwork, joy, and achievement.
