Amrita Vidyalayam Senior Secondary CBSE School, Ramanathapuram, celebrated Pongal, the harvest festival of Tamil Nadu, with great joy, cultural pride, and enthusiasm on the school campus.
The celebration began with a special assembly highlighting the significance of Pongal and expressing gratitude towards nature, farmers, and the Sun God. Students explained the importance of the four-day festival — Bhogi, Thai Pongal, Mattu Pongal, and Kaanum Pongal — through speeches, presentations, and skits.
Traditional activities such as Pongal cooking, kolam decoration, folk songs, Uriyadi, and cultural dance performances added colour and vibrancy to the celebration. Students and teachers dressed in traditional attire, creating a festive and cheerful atmosphere throughout the campus.
The programme helped students understand and appreciate the cultural values of gratitude, unity, and respect for nature while strengthening their connection to Indian traditions and heritage.
The celebration concluded with great enthusiasm and joy, leaving the students with memorable experiences and a deeper appreciation of Tamil culture and traditions.
