As part of World Bicycle Day celebrations, Amrita Vidyalayam, Ayyanthole organized a special programme on 18 June to create awareness among students about the importance of cycling, safe cycling practices, and environmental conservation. The event aimed to inspire students to adopt eco-friendly and healthy lifestyle habits.
The programme was graced by Principal Bri. Samagitamrita Chaitanya ji, Academic Coordinator Sreeja Ma’am, and Nitha Ma’am. Sri. Mohanan Sir, a bicycle repair technician with nearly 60 years of experience, was the chief guest. Starting his journey at age 12, he continues to serve with vast knowledge and expertise.
Students of Classes VI to VIII participated with great enthusiasm. They interacted with Mr. Mohanan Sir, asking questions on bicycle maintenance and safety, which he answered patiently and clearly.
Students who brought bicycles took part in a bicycle ride. Audience members were also given an opportunity to experience the activity, making the event engaging and practical. The programme emphasized bicycles as an eco-friendly mode of transport and encouraged students to adopt sustainable and healthy daily practices.
The World Bicycle Day programme was both educational and enjoyable for all participants. It successfully helped students understand the value of cycling for health and the environment. The event concluded on a positive note, motivating students to make conscious choices for a greener future.
