Amrita Vidyalayam, Kollam, celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm and environmental awareness. The programme commenced with a special assembly, during which students delivered a speech highlighting the significance of World Environment Day and the need to protect and preserve nature.
The school's Eco-Club was inaugurated as part of the celebrations. The President and Secretary of the Eco-Club were selected, marking the beginning of a new year of environmental activities and initiatives. Following the inauguration, saplings were planted on the school campus to promote greenery and environmental conservation.
The Ward Member, Mr. Anil Kumar, graced the occasion and planted a sapling. He addressed the gathering of Eco-Club members and spoke about the importance of World Environment Day, emphasizing the role of students in protecting the environment and promoting sustainable practices.
As part of the day's activities, the students were taken on a nature walk. The walk provided them with an opportunity to observe the natural surroundings closely, appreciate biodiversity, and develop a deeper understanding of the importance of conserving the environment.
The programme concluded with a pledge by students and staff to work together towards creating a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment.
