Amrita Vidyalayam, Thanjavur, observed World Environment Day with an environmental awareness initiative organised by AYUDH (Awaken Youth Unite for Dharma), the youth movement guided by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma).
The programme was conducted in the presence of R. Ananthi, Principal, Amrita Vidyalayam, Thanjavur, along with teachers, AYUDH coordinators and students.
Speaking on the occasion, school representatives highlighted the importance of sustainable living, home gardening and biodiversity conservation. Students were encouraged to cultivate environmentally responsible habits and develop a closer connection with nature.
As part of the initiative, students participated in a seed-sowing activity using mixed vegetable seeds. The activity was carried out over an area of approximately 200 square feet, promoting awareness about food cultivation, sustainability and eco-friendly practices.
A total of 15 students took part in the programme. The initiative provided hands-on learning opportunities and helped students understand the importance of environmental conservation, sustainable agriculture and responsible use of natural resources.
The programme also encouraged students to actively contribute towards creating greener communities and a more sustainable future.
