The Kindergarten of Amrita Vidyalayam, Ernakulam celebrated Chocolate and Brown Colour Day with great enthusiasm and excitement. The celebration aimed to help children identify the colour brown through fun, hands-on activities while enhancing their creativity, sensory experiences, and social interaction.
The programme began with a Colour Spreading Activity, where children dipped their feet in brown paint and walked along a long sheet of paper, creating colourful footprints. This activity encouraged free movement, sensory exploration, and cooperative participation.
Next, the children took part in a Brown Colour Making Activity. They mixed red and black paint using their palms and rubbed their hands together to discover how the colour brown is formed. This activity helped them understand colour mixing through direct experience and strengthened their observation skills.
A Biscuit Decoration Activity was then conducted, in which six children were invited to decorate biscuits using chocolate spread and colourful sprinkles. The children enjoyed expressing their creativity while learning simple food decoration techniques.
The children also watched a video demonstrating how chocolate is made, from cocoa beans to the final chocolate product. They were shown a cocoa fruit, allowing them to observe and understand the natural source of chocolate. This helped connect classroom learning with real-life experiences.
The celebration concluded with the distribution of chocolate biscuits to all the children and staff, adding sweetness and joy to the occasion.
