Honouring the healers, National Doctor's Day was celebrated on 1st July at Amrita Vidyalayam, Manjeri. The day marks both the birth and death anniversaries of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, one of India's most celebrated physicians, whose healing extended well beyond the hospital and into the fabric of nation building itself.
Amritians did a role play where they became little physicians, specialists and spoke about their service. Dr. Asainar K. T., Chief Dental Surgeon and a Skill Development Trainer, and Dr. Mashida T. K. interacted with the students and gave them an excellent awareness about the significance of following personal hygiene, oral hygiene, nutritious food intake and good eating habits.
The students were able to uphold the values incorporated, the kind of trust we place in doctors and the reassurance they offer at the bedside. They were well informed that National Doctor's Day offers a fitting opportunity not just to applaud their skill, but to ask sincerely, how we might better care for the people who spend their lives caring for us.
