Amrita Vidyalayam, K. K. Nagar, observed World Environment Day with a Bee-Flora Plantation Drive organised by AYUDH (Awaken Youth Unite for Dharma), the youth movement guided by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma).
The programme was conducted in the presence of Mrs. Subashini Haridas, Principal, Amrita Vidyalayam, along with teachers, AYUDH coordinators and students, who came together to promote environmental awareness and biodiversity conservation.
As part of the drive, students planted 150 saplings, including Ixora, Golden Shower Tree, Yellow Bell Tree, Oleander, Ashoka and Ornamental Grass species. The plantation initiative was designed to support bees and other pollinators while enhancing the green cover of the campus.
A total of 60 participants took part in the programme. The initiative helped raise awareness about biodiversity conservation, ecological balance and sustainable living practices, while encouraging students to become responsible custodians of nature.
The programme also highlighted the vital role of pollinators in maintaining healthy ecosystems and ensuring food security for future generations.
