Amrita Vidyalayam, Dindigul, observed World Environment Day with a Bee-Flora Planting Drive organised by AYUDH (Awaken Youth Unite for Dharma), the youth movement guided by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma).
The programme was inaugurated by Ms. Nithya Lakshmi K., Assistant Professor, in the presence of Mrs. Muthulakshmi M., Principal, Amrita Vidyalayam, Dindigul. Teachers, AYUDH coordinators and students participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said, "Environmental conservation begins with small but meaningful actions. Initiatives like this encourage students to appreciate biodiversity and actively contribute towards creating a greener and more sustainable future."
As part of the drive, students planted 232 flowering saplings, including Rose, Jasmine and Hibiscus, which support bees and other pollinators. The plantation initiative helped create a greener and more pollinator-friendly environment while promoting biodiversity conservation.
A total of 232 participants took part in the programme. The initiative raised awareness about environmental protection, sustainable living and the importance of pollinators in maintaining ecological balance and food security.
The programme also encouraged students to become responsible custodians of nature and adopt environmentally conscious practices in their daily lives.
