Amrita Vidyalayam, Kalapatti, observed World Environment Day with a Bee-Flora Planting Drive organised by AYUDH (Awaken Youth Unite for Dharma), the youth movement guided by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma).
The programme was inaugurated by Radhika B, in the presence of Ms. Saroja Rajalingam, Principal, Amrita Vidyalayam, Kalapatti. Teachers, AYUDH coordinators and students participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said, "Nature and education must go hand in hand. Programmes like this help students understand environmental issues beyond textbooks and inspire them to become responsible custodians of the planet."
As part of the drive, students planted 15 native flowering saplings that support bees and other pollinators, helping create a greener and more pollinator-friendly campus while raising awareness about environmental conservation. The planting activity covered an area of approximately 5 square metres.
A total of 178 participants, including students, teachers and AYUDH volunteers, took part in the initiative. The programme sought to help students understand the importance of bees and other pollinators in maintaining ecological balance and food security, while encouraging them to adopt environmentally responsible practices in their daily lives.
