Amrita Vidyalayam, Kirumampakkam, observed World Environment Day with a Bee-Flora Planting Drive organised by AYUDH (Awaken Youth Unite for Dharma), the youth movement guided by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma).
The programme was inaugurated by Shree Sumithran Ji, Academic Advisor, Amrita Vidyalayam, Kirumampakkam, in the presence of Mrs. Shanthi Roja, Principal, Amrita Vidyalayam, Kirumampakkam. Teachers, AYUDH coordinators and students participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said, "Conservation begins with community participation. It is inspiring to see young minds taking part in meaningful activities that promote biodiversity and environmental responsibility."
As part of the drive, Neem and Plantain saplings were planted within the school campus to support a greener environment and raise awareness about biodiversity conservation. The initiative also helped create a more eco-friendly campus while encouraging students to actively participate in environmental protection.
The initiative highlighted the important role of bees and other pollinators in maintaining ecological balance and food security, while encouraging environmentally responsible practices in daily life.
