Chingam 1 marks the beginning of the Malayalam New Year and the harvest season in Kerala.Karshaka Dinam (Farmers’ Day) is celebrated to honour the invaluable contributions of farmers. Amrita Vidyalayam, Pathanamthitta, observed Chingam 1 as Karshaka Dinam with great respect and gratitude toward the farming community. This day holds special significance in Kerala as it marks the beginning of the Malayalam month Chingam, symbolizing prosperity, new beginnings, and the onset of the harvest season.
To instill in students an awareness of the importance of agriculture and the invaluable contributions of farmers, various programs and activities were organized. Teachers highlighted the role of farmers as the backbone of society, emphasizing their hard work, dedication, and the challenges they face in ensuring food security. Students were encouraged to appreciate and respect the farming profession and to adopt a sustainable outlook toward nature and the environment.
The program also served as a reminder of our cultural roots and the traditional practices associated with agriculture. By observing Karshaka Dinam, the school aimed to nurture a sense of gratitude, responsibility, and environmental awareness among young minds, inspiring them to uphold and preserve the values of self-reliance and respect for nature.
