Amrita Vidyalayam, Tenkasi, joyfully celebrated International Yoga Day 2026 on 21 and 22 June 2026 with great enthusiasm and devotion, reaffirming the timeless values of health, harmony, and holistic well-being. The celebration reflected the vision of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma) in nurturing balanced individuals through the practice of yoga and mindful living.
The programme commenced with prayer and the chanting of sacred invocations, seeking the divine blessings of Amma. The traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp marked the auspicious beginning of the celebration, symbolizing the light of knowledge and wisdom. The gathering was warmly welcomed, followed by the introduction and felicitation of the Chief Guest, Ms. S. Kaleeswari, B.E. (Computer Science), Diploma in Yoga, Vice President, Tenkasi Manavalakalai Trust, whose gracious presence added significance to the occasion.
The highlight of the programme was an inspiring yoga demonstration by the Chief Guest, who emphasized that yoga is a holistic discipline that harmonizes the body, mind, and soul. In her address, she encouraged the students to make yoga an integral part of their daily lives to develop discipline, concentration, physical fitness, and inner peace.
The celebration continued with an energetic Clapping Yoga performance by the students, followed by a graceful presentation of Surya Namaskar and various Yogasanas. The students displayed remarkable flexibility, balance, coordination, and confidence, reflecting their dedicated practice and deep appreciation for the ancient tradition of yoga. Their synchronized performances received warm appreciation from the audience.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the management, the Chief Guest, teachers, parents, and students whose wholehearted support contributed to the success of the celebration.
