Amrita Vidyalayam, Tenkasi, celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm on 05 June 2026 to create awareness among students about the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable living. The celebration encouraged students to recognize their responsibility in protecting nature and preserving the environment for future generations.
The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest, Mr. Sugumar, in the gracious presence of the Manager and the Principal, symbolizing the light of knowledge and environmental awareness. This was followed by a prayer seeking divine blessings for the success of the programme and the well-being of our planet.
The welcome address, delivered by the Science Department, highlighted the significance of World Environment Day and emphasized the role of every individual in protecting the environment through responsible and sustainable practices.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest spoke about the urgent need to conserve natural resources, reduce pollution, and promote afforestation to ensure a greener and healthier future. His inspiring message encouraged the students to become environmentally conscious citizens and active contributors to environmental protection.
As part of the celebration, the students enthusiastically participated in a sapling plantation drive within the school campus. The activity instilled a sense of environmental responsibility and reinforced the importance of nurturing and protecting nature.
The programme concluded on a meaningful note, inspiring everyone to adopt eco-friendly practices and contribute towards building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable world.
