In order to commemorate the nation's freedom from British rule in 1947. This day is a reminder of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters anda celebration of India's journey as an independent nation. The flag was hoisted by our Chief guest Brigadier N A Subramanian accompanied by principal, teachers and students. A housewise patriotic song competition was conducted. Students of four houses Amritamayi, Anandamayi, Chinmayi and Jyothirmayi participated.
Patriotic costumes were displayed by our 3rd standard students. They represented our National heroes. Students were dressed up as Bharat Mata, Mahatma Gandhi, Rani Lakshmi Bai, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Kasturba Gandhi, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit, Annie Besant, Sarojini Naidu, Begum Hazrat Mahal and Subash Chandra Bose.
A skit on the importance of Independence was done by students of class IX. The Declamation of Jawaharlal Nehru on the midnight hours of August 15, 1947 was presented by Bhajan Gadheyan of IX B. As part of Independence day celebrations, a quiz competition was conducted for the middle and secondary students.
The winners of the quiz competition were: Akshaj P Nair of class VI A in the middle section and Sai Krishna of class X from secondary section
Different activities to instill patriotic feeling among children such as:
Class I & II - Drawing and colouring National Flag
Class IV - Flag Waving activity
Class V - Rakhee making using tricolour
Class VI - preparation of Thankyou card for soldiers
Class X - Bulletin board
Displays for classes 5 to 8 were also conducted.
