Amrita Vidyalayam, Peroor, Kollam, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India on 15 August 2026 with great patriotic fervour and enthusiasm in the school ground. The celebration witnessed the active participation of students, parents, teachers and staff.
The programme commenced with the flag-hoisting ceremony, followed by patriotic songs, speeches and colourful cultural performances by the students. Vande Mataram was sung with pride and devotion, creating a strong sense of patriotism and national unity.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Sunil Kumar K.N., Sub Inspector of Police (Rtd.), who retired on 31 May 2025 after completing 27 years of dedicated service, addressed the gathering. Through inspiring anecdotes and experiences, he highlighted the values of patriotism, discipline, dedication and service to the nation.
The Principal delivered an inspiring message, encouraging students to uphold the values of unity, discipline, integrity and responsible citizenship. The Swamini also addressed the gathering, motivating students to live by noble values and contribute positively to society.
The enthusiastic participation of parents and students added great warmth and significance to the celebration. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks by the Vice Principal, expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest, Swamini, parents, students, teachers and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.
The celebration was aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, promoting democratic values, national unity, peace and responsible citizenship.
The celebration successfully fostered a spirit of patriotism, unity, discipline and respect for our national heroes, inspiring the students to become responsible citizens committed to building a stronger and more harmonious nation.
