Amrita Vidyalayam, Tenkasi, celebrated National Mathematics Day with great enthusiasm on 22 December 2026 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. The celebration aimed to highlight the importance of Mathematics in education and everyday life while fostering logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity among students.

The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a prayer seeking divine blessings. The welcome address set the tone for the celebration. In his address, the Principal emphasized that Mathematics is the foundation of science, technology, and innovation, and plays a vital role in developing analytical thinking and reasoning skills. The Manager encouraged the students to overcome their fear of Mathematics and approach the subject with curiosity, confidence, and enthusiasm.

The students presented a variety of informative and engaging performances that reflected the beauty and significance of Mathematics. A meaningful poem on Srinivasa Ramanujan paid tribute to his remarkable contributions to the field of Mathematics. The students of Classes I and II performed a lively Shapes Dance, introducing basic geometrical concepts in an enjoyable manner. A speech on the renowned mathematician S. S. Pillai inspired the audience by highlighting his significant contributions to mathematical research.

The Face Mask Attire of Indian Mathematicians creatively showcased the achievements of eminent Indian mathematicians. The Types of Quadrilaterals Dance and the skit titled “Math is Everywhere” effectively demonstrated the practical applications of Mathematics in everyday life. Adding to the excitement, Mathmagica captivated the audience with fascinating mathematical tricks, proving that Mathematics can be both enjoyable and engaging.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks, followed by the chanting of the Shanthi Mantra. The celebration successfully reinforced the message that Mathematics is not merely a subject but an essential life skill, inspiring students to appreciate its relevance and develop a lasting interest in learning Mathematics.
