Objective of the Celebration :

The main objective was to inculcate the value of acknowledging and appreciating the dedication and guidance provided by the Guru or Teacher. It emphasizes the importance of the Guru-Shishya relationship, the transmission of knowledge, and the cultural significance of respecting Educators.

Highlights of the Day

Amrita Vidyalayam, Ernakulam, commemorated this auspicious festival with profound reverence and joy. The Celebration commenced in the morning with the Ashtotram for the Revered Guru Mata Amritanandamayi, fondly known as “Amma”, which consisted of 108 names, each representing a Divine attribute or aspect of “Amma”.The ceremonial act of veneration, steeped in tradition, set a solemn and respectful tone for the day’s proceedings.

The observance transcended a mere celebration; it was a meaningful expression of Gratitude, Love, and respect. The special Assembly included Speeches by the students who honoured the Revered Guru “Amma” and also emphasized the importance of Parents, Teachers, and elders, thus fostering a deeper sense of connection and reverence within the School Community.

Teachers and students right from the Nursery to the XII Grade participated actively in the celebrations and offered flowers at the Holy Lotus feet of “Amma” amidst the chanting of the Holy Mantras and sought her Blessings.

As part of Gurupooja, Class 8  Children paid respect to their teachers and sought their blessings. The principal ma'am led the pooja and highlighted the importance of the Guru in the life of a student.

As the festivities drew to a close, the distribution of “Amma’s Prasadam”, a sacred offering from Amma, filled the atmosphere with joy and warmth. The ‘Prasadam’, a symbol of divine grace and blessings, was received with great reverence.

This holy offering served as a fitting conclusion to the day’s festivities, reinforcing the sense of community and shared devotion that characterizes Guru Purnima.
