Amrita Vidyalayam Vellikadukunnu proudly celebrated National Handloom Day on August 7 to honour the invaluable contributions of Indian handloom weavers and to commemorate the launch of the Swadeshi Movement in 1905.
The programme began with a warm welcome, setting a respectful and enthusiastic tone for the event. Our respected Principal Dhanya ma'am addressed the gathering with insightful words on the importance of preserving India’s handloom heritage. Raji Ma'am showed a video and emphasized the importance of supporting handmade products and taking pride in traditional crafts, inspiring students to appreciate their cultural heritage.
As part of the celebration, PowerPoint preparation and Presentation Competition was conducted for Class 8students, showcasing their creativity and understanding of handloom art, its history, and its relevance in today’s world.
Students of Amrita Vidhyalayam showcased their projects, including handmade crochet items, a charkha model highlighting its historical significance, and a poster promoting the value of handloom products.
These student-led activities added colour and depth to the celebration, making it interactive and inspiring.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Nidhi of Class 8, expressing gratitude to all teachers, participants, and students who made the programme a success.
The celebration was a meaningful reminder of our rich cultural heritage and the importance of supporting the traditional crafts that tell the story of India.
