Amrita Vidyalayam, Ettimadai, observed World Environment Day with a Bee-Flora Planting Drive organised by AYUDH (Awaken Youth Unite for Dharma), the youth movement guided by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma).
The programme was inaugurated by R. Kannan, Range Forest Officer, Madukkarai Forest Range, in the presence of S. Prakash, Forest Beat Officer, and Nedumaran S, Principal, Amrita Vidyalayam, Ettimadai. Teachers, AYUDH coordinators and students participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said, "Protecting pollinators is essential for preserving biodiversity and ensuring a healthy environment. It is encouraging to see students actively participating in initiatives that contribute to conservation and sustainability."
As part of the drive, students planted native flowering species that support bees and other pollinators, helping create a greener and more pollinator-friendly campus while raising awareness about environmental conservation.
The initiative sought to help students understand the importance of bees and other pollinators in maintaining ecological balance and food security, while encouraging them to adopt environmentally responsible practices in their daily lives.
