The school celebrated Onam on 21 August 2026 with great joy, enthusiasm, and cultural fervour. The celebration brought together the entire school community, including Swamini, the Manager, Principal, Vice Principal, Coordinators, teaching faculty, non-teaching staff, and students, to celebrate and appreciate the rich cultural heritage of Kerala.

Following the inauguration of the programme, the students presented a thematic skit depicting the arrival of Onam and the story of King Mahabali. The presentation highlighted the values of equality, prosperity, generosity, and togetherness associated with the festival.

The celebration continued with a group song of traditional Onam songs performed by the students, creating a lively and festive atmosphere. Several traditional and fun-filled games were also organised, encouraging participation, teamwork, and a spirit of healthy competition. The games included ഉറിയടി (Uriyadi), വടംവലി (Vadംvali – tug of war), സുന്ദരിക്കിപ്പൊട്ട് (Sundarikkipottu) and several other traditional games.

An Inter-House Athapookalam Competition was also conducted, providing students with an opportunity to showcase their creativity, teamwork, and appreciation of Kerala’s traditional art forms.

The celebration helped students understand and appreciate the values associated with Onam, such as unity, cooperation, sharing, gratitude, and respect for cultural traditions. The active participation of the students and the wholehearted support and cooperation of the staff made the celebration vibrant, inclusive, and memorable.

The programme was aligned with SDG 4 – Quality Education, by promoting experiential learning through culture, traditions, and creative activities, and SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, by preserving and celebrating Kerala’s rich cultural heritage.

The Onam celebration was a joyful and meaningful occasion that fostered cultural awareness, teamwork, unity, and a strong sense of togetherness among the entire school community.
