Amrita Vidyalayam, Manjeri observed National Handloom Day on 7th August 2026 with a meaningful blend of learning and cultural appreciation. As part of the Bagless Activity, students of Grades IV and V visited the Kerala Khadi and Village Industries Board – Spinning and Weaving Centre, Pulpata, where they witnessed the fascinating process of handloom weaving firsthand. The visit offered them a valuable insight into the skill, patience, and dedication involved in transforming simple threads into beautiful handwoven fabrics.
The celebration was further enriched by a small handloom exhibition, where students brought traditional handloom products from their homes and displayed them for others to explore. House-wise activities introducing various handloom traditions of India added to the learning experience, inspiring students to appreciate our rich textile heritage and the skilled hands that keep this timeless craft alive.
