The visit provided a wonderful blend of learning, observation and cultural exploration, helping the children understand the craftsmanship behind the beautiful fabrics they use in their everyday lives.
During the visit, the students were introduced to the different stages involved in the handloom weaving process. They observed the functioning of traditional looms and gained an insight into how skilled weavers transform threads into intricate and beautiful fabrics through patience, precision and creativity. The experience helped them appreciate that every handwoven fabric carries the dedication, skill and cultural identity of the artisan who creates it.
As part of the learning experience, the students explored the different types of handlooms and handloom traditions found across various parts of India. They learned that each region has its own distinctive weaving techniques, designs, motifs, colours and textures, reflecting the rich diversity of Indian culture.
