Amrita Vidyalayam, Edappally celebrated Independence Day on 14 and 15 August 2026 with great patriotism and enthusiasm. The two-day celebrations aimed to instil the values of freedom, unity, patriotism and national pride among the students.
KG Section Celebration – 14 August 2026
The Independence Day celebration for the KG section was held on 14 August. The programme was a joyful and colourful celebration that brought the spirit of patriotism alive among the young learners.
The celebrations featured patriotic songs, declamation, and dance performances based on patriotic themes. The little ones participated with great enthusiasm, expressing their love for the nation through their performances. Sweets were also distributed to all the KG children, adding to the joy of the occasion.
Classes I to XII Celebration – 15 August 2026
The main Independence Day celebration for Classes I to XII was held on 15 August on the school premises. The programme commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Principal, Dr. Manoranjani Suresh, followed by her inspiring address highlighting the significance of Independence Day and the responsibilities of every citizen towards the nation.
The celebration continued with a variety of cultural programmes, including dance and music performances showcasing India's rich cultural heritage. A declamation competition on patriotic themes provided students with an opportunity to express their thoughts on freedom, national unity and the sacrifices of India's freedom fighters.
Sweets were distributed to all students as part of the celebrations. The enthusiastic participation of the students and the vibrant cultural presentations reflected their love for the nation and the spirit of unity.
The two-day celebration at Amrita Vidyalayam, Edappally was a memorable occasion that encouraged students to cherish the values of freedom, unity and responsibility while nurturing a deep sense of pride in the nation.

Amrita Vidyalayam, Edappally celebrated Guru Purnima on 29 July with devotion and reverence, honouring the Guru–Shishya tradition that lies at the heart of Indian culture. The celebration was a heartfelt expression of gratitude to teachers for their guidance, wisdom and dedication in shaping the lives of students.
The programme began at 10.00 a.m. with a prayer invoking the blessings of the Almighty, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by our Vice Principal, Smt. Soumya Sreevalsan, marking the auspicious beginning of the celebration.
Held in the school hall, the Guru Paduka Pooja was attended by the school cabinet members and students of Classes VIII and IX. The programme included the chanting of Guru Padukashtakam, Guru Stotram, Guru Ashtotharam and soulful bhajans, creating a serene and devotional atmosphere.
A special highlight of the celebration was the felicitation of five senior teachers by the students in recognition of their years of dedicated service and commitment to nurturing young minds. The gesture reflected the students' respect and gratitude towards their teachers.
The celebrations continued in the Amritam Room, where students, accompanied class-wise by their class teachers, offered prayers, sought Amma's blessings and paid their respects to their teachers. These quiet moments of prayer and gratitude beautifully reflected the true spirit of Guru Purnima.
The programme also served as an opportunity to instil values such as gratitude, humility, discipline, empathy, teamwork and responsibility. It reminded students that true education is built not only on knowledge but also on values, character and service.
The day's events, including the prayer, lamp-lighting ceremony, devotional presentations, teacher felicitation and the prayer gathering in the Amritam Room, were documented through photographs and videos for the school's archives, newsletters, annual report and social media platforms.A Mathru pooja led by Swami Anagha Amritananda Puri was held on 26 July during which students offered their love and respect towards their mothers.
The Guru Purnima celebration was a meaningful occasion that reinforced the school's commitment to nurturing both academic excellence and strong values. It left everyone with a deeper appreciation for the role of the Guru in guiding, inspiring and shaping lives.
The Ramayana Month Celebration was conducted at Amrita Vidyalayam, Ernakulam to help children understand the significance of the Ramayana and its timeless values through engaging and interactive activities. The celebration provided an opportunity for students to learn about our rich cultural heritage in an enjoyable and meaningful way.
As part of the celebration, the children enthusiastically participated in a Ramayana Character Presentation, where they came dressed as different characters from the Ramayana.
The children also watched a Ramayana Story Presentation, which beautifully narrated the life and journey of Lord Rama. The visual presentation helped them understand the sequence of events and the moral values of truth, courage, devotion, kindness, and righteousness.
A class-wise Ramayana Quiz was conducted to reinforce the children's learning. The students actively participated and answered questions related to the Ramayana with great enthusiasm.
Overall, the Ramayana Month Celebration was an enriching and memorable experience that fostered cultural awareness, moral values, confidence, creativity, and active participation. The celebration successfully inspired the children to imbibe the noble values of the Ramayana in their daily lives.
